Literacy Beyond Borders Canada initiative, exists to empower newcomers, refugees, and diverse communities through lifelong learning, English language education, digital literacy, leadership development, cultural exchange, and community participation. We foster inclusion, belonging, and meaningful connections that reduce isolation, strengthen integration into Canadian society, and build understanding across cultures and countries.

Building on the legacy and functional approach of Literacy Aid Uganda, the Literacy Beyond Borders Canada Initiative envisions a Canada where newcomers, refugees, and vulnerable populations are empowered with the practical literacy communication and life skills needed to thrive, integrate successfully, and contribute meaningfully to their communities.

We believe that Literacy is more than the ability to read and write- it is a pathway to dignity, opportunity, self-reliance, and belonging. By adapting the proven principles of functional literacy education that have transformed lives through similar organizations like Literacy Aid Uganda, we seek to help newcomers and refugees in Canada to overcome barriers, access opportunities and achieve their full potential in Canada.
